–specialized in Samoan Language & Culture and Strengthening Village Governance
Facilitated (3x) a 2 week Course for Women on Improving Language of Communication with identified Traditional Community Sectors under UN-WIL program. The course aimed at enhancing women leadership communication skills with the youths, women and especially with the Council of Chiefs. Women pursuing leadership status in village communities must be familiar with the oratory, common jargons that the chiefs speak during formal traditional ceremonies. This is particularly vital if they were to earn the respect and support of their village Council of Chiefs and consequently all other sectors of the community.
Cultural Specialist in partnership with a Team of Researchers from Auckland University of Technology in collaboration with the University of the South Pacific.
Conducted capacity building workshops for Government Ministries such as: Health; Environment; Foreign Affairs; Police and other corporations on Enhancing Effective Communication between government agents and the public.
Cultural Specialist among four (4) other consultants facilitating a huge project, a Study on Family Safety in Samoa, funded by AusAID. One of the chapters Maulolo wrote in this report is about Village Social Structure and the function/role of all village sectors. Emphasis was placed on the role of Samoan women in a traditional village community and the interrelation between women and men. The majority of interviewees in this study were women. One vital matter in this Study was the attitude of men perpetrators towards women in an effort to determine cause(s) of domestic violence against women and children.
Delivered a one hour presentation to a World Bank Team of Consultants at the Samoa Cultural Centre on “Village Governance and Usage of Customary Land in Samoa”.
Worked with two other local consultants on a Tracer Study Review in 15 village projects funded under the Civil Society Support Program (CSSP). One of these projects was the training conducted by ADRA in 2014 on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Resilience. In carrying out this study, the majority of the interviewees were women who were more involved in these projects than men. The final report of this study was well received and adopted by CSSP.
Cultural Specialist and also as CSO/CBO Specialist for an Auckland based company, Frazer and Thomas, in designing a methodology for implementing a Program on Enhancing Resilience of Coastal Resources and Communities (ERCRC) under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience Contract No. PPCRC/MNRE/2013-01 funded by the World Bank.
